Passed down through the family and expanded over the years as far as the original structure would allow, this Rhode Island summer home was ultimately reimagined from the ground up for its next chapter.

Designed as a multigenerational retreat, the new home gives our clients, their three adult sons and growing families plenty of room to come together — while making the pond just outside feel like part of nearly every space.

Warm oak, pale stone, textural wallcoverings and blackened accents create a restrained, natural palette that lets the setting do much of the talking. Custom cabinetry and thoughtful storage work hard behind the scenes, while sculptural lighting, unexpected material moments and architectural details keep the interiors from feeling too quiet.

The result is a modern summer home built for the way this family gathers now — and for the generations that will continue to gather here.
